1.Fossil Fuel Depletion...Development of a vaned type novel Air Turbine

......Worldwide depletion of fossil fuel due to its greater utilization is causing a serious threat to the environment. This has drawn global attention to its conservation, and the search for an alternative to fossil fuel driven engines. Compressed air is a potentialworking ?uid for generating shaft work, and it can be a viable alternative to run light motor vehicles with reasonably small inbuilt compressed air tanks. In this article, the details of the development of a small air turbine with vaned-type rotor are presented. The proposed air turbine has been developed, and is in the process of being tested. Results based on its testing are presented here.

2. Parametric Evaluations of Injection Angles and Vane Angles on Performance of a Novel Air Turbine..

......In view of fast depleting fossil fuel reserves, the major thrust has now been laid upon search of alternative energy source and also for cost effective energy conversion system. The compressed air can be utilized as potential working fluid for producing shaft work in the air turbine, thus offering the capability of being a nearly zero pollution fuel. Such air turbine can be used as prime-mover to light vehicles or motorbikes. This paper details with the mathematical modeling and performance evaluation of a small capacity compressed air driven vaned type novel air turbine. Effect of expansion action and flow power at high pressure air for varying injection angle in turbine have been quantified and analyzed here. Study shows that the total shaft work output comprises of expansion work and flow work. In which major contribution is that of expansion work and flow work constitute up to 15.0% of the total work output. The injection angle has been varied from 10o- 80o at the interval of 10o for air admission pressure of 6 bar, vane angle varying as 30o, 45o, 60o, 90o, 120o for the number of vanes being 12, 8, 6, 4, 3 respectively at 2500 rpm. Present study shows that the optimum power is obtained at vane angle 90o (4 vanes) when injection angle varies from 10o-60o and at vane angle 60o (6 vanes) when injection angle varies from 70o- 80o.Thus the study is helpful for designing the vane turbine for optimum power output by considering 4 to 6 vanes rotor where its corresponding air injection angles are derived from the mathematical data or graph drawn in this paper.

3. Optimization of Power Output of a Novel Air Turbine....motorcycle reduce emission?...

......This paper deals with the optimization of power output of a vaned type novel air turbine with respect to different injection angles. Mathematical model is done to quantify the effect of varying injection angle, expansion due to isobaric, adiabatic expansion and steady flow work of high pressure air. It is also concluded that total power output becomes large and optimum at injection angles 60o to 75o and decreases after 75o.
